This is
our Story
We Can Help is a way to react to the negative influences surrounding trauma, domestic violence, and mental health issues. Founder, Cynthia Thomas, knows far too well the trauma and effects that come with domestic violence. She was a victim starting at age 18 and became a single mother of two children by 22. Working multiple jobs to support her children and relying on friends to help with childcare and temporary living, she wished she knew of resources to help her and her children. Cynthia redirected her trauma by supporting others and became a counselor, a case manager in foster care, and worked at an inpatient psychiatric ward. Now, Cynthia is in a place to give back to others and We Can Help was formed.
What we believe
Our Mantra
As part of an effort to support domestic violence victims experiencing and who have been affected by domestic violence or other forms of interpersonal abuse, We Can Help was founded. Many mental health and behavioral challenges are rooted in traumatic earlier life experiences and triggered by harmful responses to deeper needs for connection and resources. The organization facilitates housing assistance, childcare, rehabilitation, case management services, and total recovery through collaborative partnerships and a continuum of care to achieve a healthy community for those that are vulnerable and at risk of homelessness, mental health issues, and trauma.
